HTN:About
From HTN
The Humanitarian Technology Network (HTN) is a voluntary repository of IEEE member humanitarian efforts. Any member can submit a description of humanitarian projects in which they have been, or are currently, involved.
Any visitor, IEEE member or not, can view any submission. The HTN provides the infrastructure and ability to classify content so that it is easily accessible to IEEE members as well as the interested public – Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), corporations, foundations, and others.
This repository facilitates communication among IEEE members on their humanitarian activities, and provides exposure of member activities to NGOs and potential sources of funding. It also makes possible the identification of outstanding humanitarian technological achievements.
The HTN is a multimedia, interactive database, with information in a variety of formats including text, Power Point type slide presentations, photographs, audio, video, and other formats.
As the project descriptions in the HTN are viewable by everyone, it gives individuals as well as organizations serving humanitarian needs an opportunity to connect with IEEE members who have expertise in a particular technology and who have experience in applying that technology to humanitarian applications.
